Desc: The Great One creates a Super Fear Chaser to help rescue humanity from grip of Fear Lord Hysterix Max and his horde. Aesop the story teller and accountant for all things sets the scene for the story to unfold.

In the beginning, The Great One ruled supreme and everything that had gone before was his creation. In this harmony he created Earth and Man. Questioned by some of his angels a rebellion broke out in the heavens and The Great One cast down Diablo and Hysterix Max; the rebellious ones from his presence along with all who followed them. The Rebellious ones knowing their time is short have but one thing in their hearts, to destroy The Great Ones most precious creation, mankind.

Between places which some call Hell and the Heavens are the Plains of Hope and Fear, neither heaven nor hell. It is ruled mostly by a powerful rebel Angel Lord Hysterix Max. He and his Fear Demons torments mankind through fear and have taken over much of the Plains of Hope and Fear . Only a few Angels of Hope stand between them and complete control of the plains of Hope and Fear.

At the start of his reign a furious battle was fought between the Fear Demons of Hysterix Max and the Angels of Hope to protect the fragile balance of men and their fears. However without the willingness of men themselves to fight their own fears the Angels of Hope lost the battle and retreated as the fears of men and Lord Hysterix Max grew ever stronger.
In an act of love to release mankind from its fear and loosen the grip of Hysterix Max, The Great one created Fear Chasers. Special Humans, heroes, leaders, prophets able to see and confront the fears of men and fight the demons of Hysterix Max and help bring back the balance of hope, love and faith to Humus.

However even with the help of Fear Chasers mankind continues to be consumed by fear, falling away from faith. The Great One seeing this has decided to create a new type of Fear Chaser combining the attributes of all humanity into one to create a super Fear Chaser.
My name is Aesop and I am the Great Ones Fabula Aconter (Accountant of events) this is the story of your FearChaser.

Chapter 1: Birth of a Fear Chaser: AD Feb 16 1980 (total solar eclipse)
An audience with The Great One

Desc: Master Angel of Hope Animus meets with the Great One to discuss the birth of the next Fear Chaser. His Chorus of Angels are eager as they are depleted in wars with on the plains of Hope and Fear with Lord Hysterix Max and his Fear Demons.

Notes: There are many names for God and Many names for Angels and Demons. Demons are rouge Angels and whatever the name one uses for god there is only one creator the Great One. He created all things, Angels, the universe and everything in them. He did not wave his hand and create these things. He created them with love and care as any master craftsman would. He knows every grain of sand every raindrop every star and every atom. He loves his creation and most of all his children mankind.

Although capable of destroying all in his path he has chosen in his wisdom to give all free will. He cannot rule like a tyrant but must allow his children and angels free will. In the battle against rouge Angels (demons) he has given them and mankind the ability to choose and show that they can and will be faithful. Using prophets and special ones like Fear Chaser he hopes to show mankind the better part of themself and lead them away from dark ways that lead to destruction. He knows that mankind must learn and work to save themself.

High above heaven and earth, beyond the constellation of Abell 1835 IR1916 (the furthest reaches of the known Galaxies), where the heavens start, the Great One is approached by Animus, leader and greatest of all the Angels of hope. Angels of Hope are band (Chorus) of Angels tasked with fighting the fears of mankind with hope. “Great One” he says. “Your chorus grow restless and ever weaker in the plains of Hope and Fear. It has been hundreds of years since we had a True Fear Chaser. Hysterix Max (lord of Fear) has destroyed many of them and it seems as though we are losing the battle to bring hope to your children. Everything is in alignment, as you foretold. We wait to see who will be the next Fear Chaser?” With a voice that can create a universe the Great one replies: “Animus wait and watch. There is more at stake with my children than ever before. Mankind now have the ability to destroy themselves and the gift of life I have given them of life on Humus. Fear now consumes the entire whole world. The next Fear Chaser must be stronger than all those before. This time it will be different.

I have chosen four but only the strongest will survive to become the new Fear Chaser. Since the Tower of Babel mankind have become separated from each other. It is their collective strength and abilities that is their true gift and we shall bring them this in the new Fear Chaser. The Fear Chaser was created to help lead mankind out of Fear and into faith and hope to balance the scales. You alone with your Chorus of Angels cannot achieve this; neither can my children by themselves. The Fear Chaser is the balance between the worlds and is the only hope in your battle against the rouge Hysterix Max. Mankind must fight for hope. Destroying Hysterix Max is not enough. Mankind must learn, that is why I created the Fear Chaser Animus. The others will return to me and their abilities absorbed by the one ….. Watch Animus …. Watch as the story unfolds!”

Who will be the next Fear Chaser?
Desc: Animus focuses his gaze on Earth to see who will be the next Fear Chaser to be chosen from the varied cultures and strengths of Mankind. He first lands his gaze on China in a small Village in Leibo home to the Yi People of China.
The heavens unfold like a curtain, revealing below, first our known universe, finally to settle on Mother Earth. The gaze of Animus zooms in through the fabric of the Universe into the great land of China. He sees cities engulfed in the eclipsing of the sun and he is brought to a Small Village in Leibo, Liangshan, Sichuan China, home to the Yi People of China. The Yi are one of China's 55 minorities. They are colourful mountain folk who have their own culture, language and traditions. The stars in the heavens are aligned like a trail of cat‟s eyes on a dark Western highway.

Gathered around a small house on the outskirts of the village is a concerned group of Yi villagers. Pacing closest to the door of the house is GuGe Jihu the expectant father. Words can be heard being spoken amongst the villagers. “The Bimo (Yi Ethnic healer) has been there all day and night. They say the baby and mother will not survive till morning. This is their first child too!” Animus concentrates his gaze deeper into the house. Several women surround a dimly lit bed in a room at the corner of the house. They are dressed in traditional Yi costume as it is a special night.

On the bed the pregnant mother Wu ZhiXia is sweating and writhing with great pain, she is afraid, not for herself but for her child. She looks around the room for comfort in the faces of those surrounding her but she can find little comfort there, and so she prays for her unborn child offering her own life for that of her first baby.

Cultures of the world
Desc: Animus see's that there are four babies and only one will become the next Fear Chaser. The babies represent the cultures and strengths of mankind and the chosen baby will have the strengths, culture and spirituality of all the other babies who pass on back to the Great One.

The doctor is doing his best, but even he knows there is not much he can do now. It is up to the mother to fight. It is up to the baby inside her to fight to live. The mother is weak and from what he could tell the baby has a very faint heartbeat. Trying to get her to the main hospital would be impossible, she would never make it, so it was all about the strength of the mother and child now. All he could do was make her as comfortable as possible. Meanwhile the chanting Bimo's words are filling the room with the hum of ancient dialects and scripts. “This is the chosen one, bring her forth, provide the breath of life for this special child, she has the spirit of ZhiGeALu, She must not die” he chants.
Animus frowns a little, it does not seem to him this child could be the one and he turns his gaze next to the African Congo where a whole village wait to hear of the birth of one of their own. O nce again the local doctors are doing what they can, and the Shaman is chanting his words to Nzambi. There are no hospitals here. This little village on the banks of the Congo River is only accessible by boat. This too is a special child fighting for the breath of life. In this war torn savage land, where babies die every day a whole village await the outcome of this particular birth. Everyone can sense this child is something different, special, and so they gather and they wait and they hope. Around the world in two more locations; a small Chakma village in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh and on Tribal Lands of the Munsee Delaware Nation in Ontario, Canada. A Changhma Indian baby and a Native American Aboriginal child also fight for life. Animus watches as the same scene is played out in four locations on Humus. He is not sure which one will survive to be the next Fear Chaser.

These are the four prospective Fear Chasers but only one can survive, the others will return to the Great One and their abilities and powers absorbed by the lone survivor, but which one? They are all special, all gifted with the abilities and spirits of great warriors. Between them they hold the genetic keys of all mankind, its cultures, abilities strengths and weaknesses.

As the world is plunged ever deeper into fear and chaos, the Angels of hope grow even weaker in their battle against Lord Hysterix Max and his Fear Demons. Terrorism, Famine, War and greed are rampant on Humus. The Demons have almost complete control of Mankind and the new Fear Chaser is greatly needed. For all his great powers Animus cannot tell which baby will survive to be the next Fear Chaser, and so he and his entire chorus of Angels have to watch and wait like everyone else. Although a hundred years is as the blink of an eye to these Angels it seems an eternity to them as they watch to see who it will be.
Chapter 2: “Three must pass, so one can live” AD Feb 16 1980 (total solar eclipse)
Fear Chaser revealed?

Desc: Animus see's the outcome of events as the new Fear Chaser is revealed to the universe. It's the only girl in the group, born in Liebo China she has survived and will be the next Fear Chaser

The Bimo's chanting stops. There are anxious faces in the throng and a deft sile nce seems to befall the entire village. Only to be finally broken by the glorious scream of a new born baby. The heavens are also watching as GuGe Jihu, the proud new father brings his first born daughter out to show the world. “She is here” he says. “She is strong, she has the spirit of ZhiGeALu, she would not let go. She is my firstborn and I will call her Ayi! Wu ZhiXia, my wife also lives, she if fine and will recover her strength.” The villagers erupt with applause and relief, little knowing that the heavens are watching and applauding also, Gugue Jihu takes his new born daughter back into the house, ok it's not a boy as he had hoped for, but never mind, he has a daughter and she is surprisingly strong he thinks as she grips his index finger with her tiny hands. It actually hurts he thought.

Animus now knows who his next charge will be. He smiles, even he did not think the little girl would be the one, but he knows never to question the Great One and he knows there are many things that he doe s not know. What he does know is that the Great Ones attention to detail is beyond anything anyone even he can imagine. Even with the creation of the smallest micron the Great one will take thousands of years he leaves no stone unturned and plans into the infinite future. There is now a new Fear Chaser, and he must protect her until her awakening and beyond. Animus also knows that Lord Hysterix Max will be aware of this and that he will waste no time in trying to destroy the new Fear Chaser. However for tonight, at least, there will be great rejoicing in this small village in Southwest China as the Yi villagers take the streets in ceremonial dress singing and dancing at the birth of Ayi Jihu, the baby born on the night of the Solar Eclipse. The baby with the spirit of ZhiGeALu born to GuGe Jihu and Wu ZhiXia!

Four into One
Desc: The combined spirits and abilities of all four babies are locked into the new Fear Chaser. Each of the babies gives the new Fear Chaser a warrior hero and their abilities. The spirits of these warriors live within the Fear Chaser waiting to be fully awakened. But until then they will protect her without her knowledge.

As the universe closes its window on this particular scene, the spirit and energy of Munsee Lenape Aboriginal baby gifted with the powers of Wehixamukes to fight the evil of Mahtantu and the prowess in battle of Konieschquanoheel (Lenape warrior) makes its journey to Leibo, Sichuan, China to join with the little Yi baby Ayi Jihu who lives. In the Chittagong Hills of Bangladesh a small Chakma baby gifted with the warrior skills of Marma warrior Kheju Roaza releases his energies to the Yi baby girl in the small village of Leibo, Sichuan, China and passes onto the Great One. Finally in the Congo Village a new born baby passes onto the Great One sending his attributes, wisdom and energy, born from the great Warrior Queen Njinga, aka Ann Nzinga to the new born Yi baby in Leibo, Sichuan, China and the circle is complete.

As the spiritual energies combine, three distinct glistening colours of energy, above the small house at the corner of the village in Leibo become one bright magical light and descend (invisible to the eyes of all around but Animus and his Chorus) into the body of new born Ayi Jihu. High above, beyond the constellation of Abell 1835 IR1916 the Great One welcomes three new members to his Chorus and smiles.

Signed by the Gods?
Desc: Wu ZhiXia the mother of Fear Chaser discovers a strange birthmark on her baby‟s back. The medicine wheel birthmark marks her baby as special, perhaps a gift from the gods? She does not want anyone else to discover it as she fears for her new born safety and future.

In the small house on the corner of the village Wu ZhiXia is gently bathing her new born child, as she turns her round to wipe her back; she sees a circular birthmark on her baby. The mark is just at the end of her shoulder. At first she believes its residue left over from the difficult birth and attempts to wipe it clean, but it is not. What she is looking at seems more like a tattoo of a symbol. What does this mean? No baby is born with a birthmark like this. If it has happened before she has never heard of it. It‟s a perfect symbol; a circle split into four sections like an evenly divided cake, with a different colour Red, White, Black and Yellow for each section. The circle is distinct and the colours are vivid and bright almost shinning out. She does not understand it. This is impossible she thinks to herself. Her first thought is to call for the doctor and the Bimo, but her instincts as a mother take over.

She somehow Knows it is best to keep it from the others, from the world, at least for now. She quickly wraps baby in a white cotton birth cloth making sure she covers the birthmark on her shoulder. “This will be our secret little one.” She whispers to Ayi. She then gently rocks her baby to sleep. Happy and concerned at the same time, she all of knows her baby is no ordinary child.
Chapter 3: A date with Fear: AD NOV 12th 2012 (eve of full solar eclipse)
The Chorus waits

Desc: Falimento meets once again with the Great One to receive final instructions on the eve of the Awakening of Fear Chaser. He and his chorus of Angels are eager.

Animus is about to have an audience with the great one again. Twice in less than Two thousand years, he feels blessed and hopes the Great One will understand the urgency he feels inside. Tomorrow would signal the awakening of the Fear Chaser everything is in place and the stars are in alignment. It‟s time for final council and guidance. “Great One, we await the awakening of the new Fear Chaser. We have protected her bravely since birth without her knowing. Hysterix Max has sent more forces against her than any previous Fear Chaser and the cost of protecting her has been high. We have fought great battles and we are depleted, but we are confident Great One. We did not want to lose this one as we have lost others you have sent. Her awakening will not come a moment too soon for humanity; we need her spirit to help us win this battle for mankind and restore balance to the plains of Hope and Fear.
Even now she battles with her fears. ” Says Animus.
“Animus, you have done well. It is with great sorrow that I have witnessed many of the Chorus fall at the hands of Hysterix Max and his demons. I have seen the Plains of Hope and Fear reduced to just the Fear Plains. I watch everything Animus. When the moon covers the sun completely she will be awakened as Fear Chaser. Nothing happens before it’s time Animus, The Galaxy is my timepiece and it works according to my plan, Prepare your Chorus” “Yes Great One” Says Animus.

Lord of Fear
Desc: Lord Hysterix Max summons Falimento to explain why Fear Chaser is still alive. He is angry that this Fear Chaser has survived so long despite them having control of most of the Plains of Hope and Fear and being so much stronger than the Angels of Hope. He wants answers and if he does not get them someone will die for sure.

Meanwhile, at the same time on the very edges of the Fear Plains in Castle (Montis Disambiguation) carved in the solid rock of a huge mountain Lord Hysterix Max takes court. The Plains of Hope and Fear have now mostly come to be known as „The Fear Plains‟ It is a place between what some call Heaven and some call Hell and it is where the great battles between the Angels of Hope and the Demons of Fear are fought.
The Angels of hope have seen the Plains of Hope and Fear turn mostly dark and acrid as they have lost ground to Lord Hysterix Max and his demons over thousands of years. The more humanity turns towards fear the stronger Hysterix Max becomes. So his demons grow ever stronger feeding of the fear of man and the Angels grow weaker as all hope is lost. Soon there will be no hope left on the plains at all. Diablo another rouge Angel controls hell and although he and Hysterix Max want the same thing; the destruction of Mankind, they do not work together. The rules of engagement forbid it, plus they do not wish to anyway. Each wants to be the one to destroy Mankind on his own.

“Where is Falimento!?” Booms Lord Hysterix Max, “and that fool Secundus!” “They are coming my Lord,” Replies a low ranking Demon. “We sent word out to them that you had summoned them. They should be here any moment my Lord.” He says nervously. “Not quick enough!” Lord Hysterix Max points his index finger at the crouched demon before him, sending a bolt of diabolic plasmic energy into the prostrate demon. The demon is then instantly frazzled and destroyed before he can even utter a scream. Lord Max is not known for his patience. The demons charred remains lie in a perfectly formed small pyramid shaped pile of black smouldering dust on the throne room floor. “Remove him, and bring me Falimento and Secundus, now!” The other demons shuffle back, none wishing to be next for Gehenna.

Enter Falimento
Desc: Falimento (Master Fear of Failure demon) and the right hand of Lord Hysterix Max explains how the Angels of Hope have fought bravely sacrificing themselves to protect this Fear Chaser, but he also has a plan to destroy her and he hopes that Lord Hysterix Max will let him live long enough to execute it.

“We are here my lord Max” Speaks a voice from the shadows as Falimento (Master Fear of Failure demon) and Secundus, (Master Fear of success demon) enter the throne room. Hysterix Max speaks; “You do know what tomorrow is don‟t you Falimento? It is your last chance to destroy this accursed Fear Chaser before she is awakened!” “Yes my lord” responds Falimento. “Then why does she still live? I charged you with her destruction before her awakening and you have failed me Falimento. You know how I feel about failure Falimento? You of all demons should know that!” Lord Hysterix Max begins to look at his index finger, making circular motions with it as he speaks. Everyone knows what that usually means. Sweat drips from the forehead of Falimento as a deathly quiet transcends the throne room. Demons can be heard shuffling further back into the shadows. “My lord we have despatched many Angels of Hope trying to destroy this Fear Chaser, more than ever before, but they have fought to the death for this one, sacrificing themselves in great numbers at every opportunity, we have slain many my lord”. “But she still lives Falimento!” screams Hysterix Max. “Yes my lord, if you will allow me to explain. I personally have worked tirelessly to fill her with fear and doubt. I have played on all the usual elements to plant the usual doubts concerning vanity that work so well with most women. As you know lord the seeds of fear I have sewn into women concerning aging, beauty and sexuality have been extremely successful. I saw no reason why they would not work with her causing her to have self-doubt, perhaps turn to substance abuse or alcoholism, but I had limited success with this my lord. For her age she has an inner strength that we have rarely come across. I have sent many men to confuse and distract her hoping to turn her attention purely to matters of the flesh, but again here my lord we have met with only limited success. Our best Demons have tried to corrupt her make her weak, vain, selfish confused like so many others. Even they have failed my lord. We have managed to put some confusion and fear into her life but not enough to cause her to self-destruct as I had hoped. I feel our best chance will be when she is awakened as Fear Chaser to lure her into the Fear Plains when her powers will be weak. She will not know how to use them, she will not be able to face us and survive in battle. We can destroy her then my lord before she has a chance to really influence mankind. All we have to do is lure her into the Fear Plains My Lord and I have a plan to do so.”

Lord Hysterix Max pauses, his finger stops circling as he ponders the words of Falimento. There is a tangible sigh of relief in the room (many of the Demons do not listen to what is being said they just watch the finger). Meanwhile, beside Falimento, Secundus is shaking; he stands as much in the shadow of Falimento as possible, hoping not to draw the attention of Lord Hysterix Max. “Hmmmm, I feel there may be some value in your strategy Falimento. I will give you another chance, but do not fail me again or one of you will.” He says. “Yes my Lord” responds Falimento, with a visible look of relief on his face. “I, I mean we shall not fail you." Falimento turns and looks at Secundus with a little grin. "Tomorrow when the Fear Chaser is awakened we shall destroy her once and for all and Humus will be yours my lord.”

Lord Hysterix Max stands up from his throne of dead and crushed bones. He starts to pace back and forth in front of his throne. All those present know what this means. It will be another Hysterix rant and usually when he rants someone gets toasted. “I hate these cursed humans.” He rants. “The great one loves them more than all others, those puny, fleshly sacks of puss. No matter what they do he continues to favour them more than all others. They murder each other; commit vile acts with but a little prompting from us. They are destroying his beloved Humus just with greed. They kill his prophets and Fear Chasers and many worship me and yet we his firstborn are castigated for speaking out against them, his playthings. I will show him that they are no good beyond any doubt. I will prove that they are weak and that they will turn against him and themselves and forget him, many already have. They ignore his great works and put their trust in their own deeds, in their own technology. I do not understand this obsession he has with these humans. I and Diablo used to be his favoured ones, but like many others we grew tired of his love for those maggots he created, how does he repay a billion years of loyal service!!? He cast me down here to this cursed place and sends Diablo down even further! I will make him regret this by destroying his precious „Mankind‟. I will make them eat themselves with fear and destruction and turn against each other with hate and malice. I will not let this or any other Fear Chaser stand in my way!" As he speaks he becomes more and more animated, with every gesture of his hands the demons around him duck and shuffle deeper into the shadows. Only Falimento stands his ground, with a cowering Secundus behind him. "Destroy her Falimento and Secundus; bring back her crushed bones to add to my throne!” “Yes my lord.” responds Falimento. He bows, turns and leaves the throne room with Secundus shuffling behind him. Falimento knows he is lucky to be still alive.

Fear of Failure
Desc: Falimento and Secundus Master Fear of Success demon discuss their plans to destroy the Fear Chaser having been given a second chance by Lord Hysterix Max. The two know they cannot fail otherwise they themselves will be destroyed. They call their fellow demons and venture to destroy Fear Chaser.

Falimento is a powerful demon. Many humans have fear of failure demons but he was only assigned to the greatest humans, leaders, warriors‟ visionaries, Fear Chasers. His job was simple use their own fears to destroy or undermine them. He had watched many a great leader destroy themselves or give up on great ideas because of his work and as a result he had become Hysterix Max right hand. He is also a mighty fighter and has despatched many angels of hope in his time. He is proud, ambitious and he is smart a great tactician. He knows the power of fear, he has used it a thousand times and now he was feeling it himself. He knew failure to destroy this Fear Chaser would mean instant destruction for himself. He was not about to let that happen. Often Falimento would work hand in hand with Secundus; Fear of Success demon. Falimento felt Secundus was a bit of a fool but he was a useful fool who was very good at what he did. “I did not notice you stepping up to speak Secundus” Said Falimento as they walked through the halls of the castle. “I did not think Lord Max was speaking to me brother Falimento. You know of course that I would stand in defence of your efforts as always” said Secundus with a sly smile on his face. Secundus considered himself to be clever. He was not going to risk being turned to ashes by trying to be a hero. No instead he would let Falimento take the fall and when he did he would step into his shoes and be Lord Max‟s right hand. Yes Secundus had a plan but he knew for now he needed Falimento. Falimento was a stronger demon than he and a better thinker plus Falimento had the respect of many demons. For thousands of years he had walked in the shadow of Falimento. Now he could sense his time was close. He must play his cards right, wait his moment and stay out of the line of fire in order to succeed. “Well next time feel free to say something Secundus. I am not stopping you.” retorted Falimento. “Of course Falimento, You know how Lord Max favours you. I just thought it best to keep quiet. I stood ready to defend you should you have needed it.” Replies Secundus trying his best to sound and look convincing. “Yes I‟m sure you would” replied Falimento sarcastically. Falimento knew that although Secundus might well be a fool, he is also dangerous, ambitious and not to be trusted.

“Come we have much work to do. Gather your finest we go to destroy a Fear Chaser and I would not be surprised if we come up against Animus and his Chorus again tonight." Or what‟s left of them." says Secundus laughing. "If my plan works we can lure the Fear Chaser into the Fear Plains and then she will be vulnerable. She will not know how to use any of her powers; she will be ripe for the taking. Come Secundus, hurry I smell Fear Chaser blood.”
Chapter 4: Finding myself: AD NOV 12th 2012 (eve of full solar eclipse)

From East to West
Desc: A grown up Ayi comes to terms with life in the West. She loves being in the West and the freedom it gives her, but she is also confused as she wants to pursue her dreams and does not know where to start. She is afraid and does not know what to do most of the time, and she can‟t help feel that she is somehow different to everyone else.

Another long day is over and Ayi cannot be bothered as usual to wait for the bus. She makes her way through the back streets of the city against the better judgement of her friends who constantly tell her „it‟s not safe‟. She however has never had a problem and it takes 10 minutes of her journey home walking through the back streets. She grew up walking up and down mountain roads in heels so she finds it no problem to walk home, she enjoys it. Her mind wonders back to her village in Leibo, China. It seems so long ago since she was home. Yet in truth it has only been a few years. She stops, takes a look around at the surrounding sprawling metropolis. Wow, she thinks to herself. I am in the West! Who would have thought it?! Even now after being here a few years she finds it hard to believe that she is in the West. It‟s like a crazy dream, so different from her life in the village back home.

Now she is also on her own. It‟s been almost 6 months since she left her Auntie Asha Jihu and struck out on her own, packing a few things and moving to another city. No more sneaking out of the bedroom window and going to the clubs and then sneaking back in again. Now she is free, free to do whatever she wants. Her love of music, dancing and singing had led to many confrontations with Asha who thought it was all just a stupid distraction and a waste of time, but Ayi loved the music and the people and the feeling both gave her. In China they only ever saw a black person on TV or in magazines and newspapers where she lived and now she was hanging out with them in the clubs and being accepted . She found it strange and the people she also found her an enigma. No one understood how she could dance and move with the cultural and natural unforced ethnic swagger of a black woman. It caught many eyes wherever she went. This was something she could have never imagined and she would spend hours writing to her friends back home about her experiences and adventures in the big Western cities. They found it enthralling. Everyone in her village talked about her. When she left for them it felt as though the whole village lost something. So they were always eager to hear her stories. Most of her friends thought she was a little crazy hanging out with the Guilo‟s so much, but when it came to the music they all knew there was no stopping Ayi. She was just like that at home. Always singing and dancing. Always leading the way at school in the productions and plays they would put on. To them Ayi was already a bit of a star.
Living in the West was great but she also found herself feeling quite afraid most of the time. She got on well with most people, especially people of colour. For some reason they took to her like one of their own. Indians, Africans, Latin Americans all seemed to gravitate to her. She found this very strange as her other Chinese friends kept themselves to themselves. After a while she learned just to go with it and not ask too many questions. One thing she did have in common with these cultures was the music and the vibe. She understood it, felt it, when most Chinese she knew did not. When she would sneak out and go clubbing she felt like another person, Free and able to express herself. She would be this mysterious Chinese girl that turned up danced all night and disappeared. Often causing a stir amongst the boys, but respected by the other girls despite this attention.
She loved the feeling of being free on the dance floor of being watched and admired for expressing herself. Many times she would be approached by men and women asking her who she was and if she was some sort of performer. She would always reply 'no' and hurry off to another part of the club. Whenever people dug too deep Ayi would run away. She was afraid, insecure. She had no idea that Falimento was working hard to enhance these feelings within her. Often Ayi thought she was not good enough to be anything but a country girl. The truth of it was that Ayi felt deep down that she was special, but could not come to terms with why she was special. What if I think I'm special but I'm not she would tell herself. She did not want to lose face amongst people by pushing herself forward only to be knocked bac k. She was afraid of failure, looking stupid. Inside her was this constant battle to be all that she could be or to settle for what she had. Stick or twist. Ayi felt confused most of the time and she hated it.

There was a lot she also could not quite come to terms with in the West. She found many people lazy and spoilt including some of her friends. They had so much but were never satisfied she thought. Ayi was also quite frugal. She hated wasting money or food and was often disgusted by what she s aw around her. People here throw so much away she thought. Back at home they threw nothing away; they used it until it fell apart and then found another use for it. She could not understand why people here were so wasteful with things but always complaining they did not have enough money. For all the things people here had they did not seem to be any happier, in fact she found them to be less content and always feeling as though they were missing out on something. She found after a while she would start to think like them, and If it was not for her Auntie who was always so tough and strict she would probably have become just like everyone else around her. She found it hard to reconcile many of these things living in the West. Sometimes she felt it would be just easier to give in and be just like everyone else. In many ways it would make her life easier, less questions to answer. However she could not. The way she was brought up was instilled within her strong. Her father‟s words and advice would al ways stay with her and she was what she was.

A Heroine of China
Desc: Ayi thinks about her escape to the City from her tough Auntie Asha Jihu who brought her to the West from China. Asha does not want Ayi have anything to do with music and dancing, she wants Ayi to concentrate on her school work and education. Ayi's passion for her music meant that she had to run away and find her own way. She expects a backlash from Asha at some point.

Asha Jihu was a formidable woman. She was a heroine of China. She was a woman that survived the ravages of the Yangzi River on a raft and lived to tell the tale when many had perished. She had become a prominent figure in the Region of Sichuan, and almost a mythical figure to the Yi People. This fame gave her the power and leverage to bring Ayi to the West and she would never let Ayi forget her sacrifice or waste it on what she considered „frivolous endeavours‟. “I did not risk my life to get you here for you to mess around with this stupid music thing Ayi!” She would always argue. Ayi knew Asha had a good point. This was a rare and great opportunity, she did not know of too many people from her village making it to a big city let alone the West and there was not really even a big Chinese singer in the West much less one from a small village like hers, so what was she thinking about? However she just could not get the music out of her system. She wanted to be a singer, to be on the big stage, she felt it was her destiny. She felt she had the vibe and the rhythm of the people, she felt she had something within her bursting to get out, something new. However she did not want to dishonour her family, but she could not live without the music. She was drawn to it. So she had to get away. When Carroll told her there was a chance of a job and an apartment she took it and left her Auntie and moved to an even bigger city in the West. She was half expecting her Auntie to come and bring her back, but as luck would have it urgent business called her Auntie back to China. Even with life being hard in the big city. Even though she did not know where to start and she had little money and was on her own, she felt better, she was free. With Asha she had no chance to realise her dream and she had come so far. Here lost in the big city she hoped maybe something might just happen. She was thankful to Asha for bringing her to the West, but now she felt it was time for her to step out on her own and make her own moves.

Short cuts
Desc: Ayi walks home through the belly of the city in the rain unaware of the danger surrounding her.

Ayi's route home is not safe for a young beautiful girl to walk late at night, but she does so anyway. She is being protected by Animus and the spirits within, but she is unaware of this. Ayi shook her head snapping herself out of her daydream. It was raining now and she hadn‟t notice until now, so deep was she in thought. She quickened her pace. She had no umbrella and she was getting soaked. She was also carrying the food for her roommate Carroll and it was getting cold. Tomorrow would be a full solar eclipse, it was all over the news many people would be coming to the city for the event hoping to get good vantage points on tall buildings. That meant a busy day at Mr Lee‟s, so she had better get home, dry off, eat and get some rest. No time for dreaming, she told herself as she started to run through the rain in her trademark high heels. As her rain soaked clothes clung to her curvaceous body revealing her sexy small but full figured outline she did not the notice the thieves, robbers and reprobates lurking in the shadows, Ayi never did. With lustful eyes and bad intentions they watched but felt compelled to let her go. Usually such prey would be gobbled up by the dark streets of the city, but this was no ordinary woman she was Fear Chaser and the spirits within protected her even though she did not know it. Ayi never stopped to consider that she was always the only girl walking home late at night via this route such was her naivety. As Ayi disappears into the rain drenched distance Animus and his Angels of hope release their grasp on her would be assailant‟s hearts. The Fear Demons use weak humans to carry out their dirty work, rob, steal, and kill. All manner of diabolical deeds are prompted by Fear Demons. The Angels of Hope have fought many battles protecting the Fear Chaser trying to wrestle control from the Demons on the humans who would do Ayi harm. In truth Animus knows he is sparing their lives not that of the Fear Chaser. He knows that if provoked her unbridled strength and abilities could take out most would be assailants especially with the heroes within working to protect her also. However Animus was not an Angel known for taking chances. As Ayi turns the key and enters her small apartment Animus reflects on a night that went a lot easier than expected. 'The Awakening' is tomorrow, he expected Hysterix Max to throw everything he had at Fear Chaser tonight.

He expected to lose many more of his chorus, perhaps more than ever before, because surely Falimento would want to do all he could to stop the awakening? Instead there had been the usual skirmishes and attempts through humans to get at Fear Chaser but nothing on the scale of what he planned for. Something was not quite right. What was Hysterix Max Planning and why on the eve of 'The Awakening' did Falimento and Secundus not enter into the fray? Animus needed answers and he knew just where to get them.
Chapter 5: A date with an old friend: AD NOV 12th 2012 (eve of full solar eclipse)

"A thousand years is too long"
Desc: Curatas 'Mother Earth' and Animus meet for the first time in a thousand years and discuss the Fear Chaser on the eve of her awakening. Animus is worried that he is missing something. He knows that Falimento and Secundus will try to destroy Fear Chaser but he is not sure how. He seeks the wisdom of Curatas to help him figure out what is going on.

Animus found himself in great thought. He had met with the Great One twice now in the blink of an eye, something which rarely happens. He knew there were many challenges ahead, also that the Great One had a plan for him too and that he must discover for himself the unfolding of this story. He recalled the great divide and the battles that took place when Diablo and Hysterix Max foolishly tried to rise up against the Great One. He recalled being summoned to the Great One to lead the battle against Hysterix Max. He remembers thinking „Why me?‟ The Great One has greater Angels in his Chorus but he chose me.‟ He remembers thinking like many of his Chorus; why does the Great One not just strike them down with a blink of his eye? He has the power to do it. He also remembers coming to terms with the infinite wisdom of the Great One who knew to strike them down would not be the way of showing the universe that they were wrong, but only that he was all powerful.

The Great One gave every living thing free will. Now countless years later he understands the Great One more. The Great One saw in Animus his great love for humanity and his creations perhaps beyond other Angels. He knew that Animus would do everything to protect his children. Yes the Great One was indeed wise and could see beyond infinity into the very hearts of every living thing. Yet Animus was still perturbed, still troubled. Tomorrow was the awakening and today he expected an onslaught on the Fear Chaser and yet there was nothing, no real movement, not one real attempt. “I need to speak to Curatas” He said to himself. “She will provide more insight.”
It has been over a thousand years since Animus last spoke to Curatas. Known to the chorus as „Earth Guardian‟ or „Mother Earth‟ she was the protector of the Great Ones Jewell, Humus, Earth. Before the Great One created Humus they were great friends, closer even. His duties as leader of the Angels of Hope and his constant battles on the Plains of Hope and Fear with Hysterix Max meant he had little time to visit old friends like Curatas these days.

“Good to see you old friend” Says Curatas as Animus approaches. “It‟s been too long.” She continues. “Yes Curatas I am afraid we both have our hands full these days.” Replies Animus. Curatas looks down slightly and sighs‟. “I grow weary old friend. Every day the Great One‟s children destroy another part of me. I can no longer repair the damage quicker than they can destroy it. Animus they destroy my trees with no remorse, they have wiped out so many of my children. They pollute the seas and the very air of life. They are lost consumed by greed and fear and yet the Great One continues to love them so, as I do. I stood beside him when he created Humus marvelled at his greatness and when he charged me with its protection I was never happier. I love every blade of grass, every drop of snow, every grain of sand and I have to watch as they destroy it.” Animus listens and then replies. “The Great One is all wise and all-knowing Curatas. He has a plan and he will not allow Mankind to destroy Humus, but he must allow them to find themselves and that may take them to the brink of destruction. I understand your pain; we have all watched you work tirelessly on Humus. We all know how much your love and care for her. The Great One sees it too as we know he misses nothing, all will be revealed in time.” Curatas responds “Yes, of course you are right Animus; tell me what brings you here, the new Fear Chaser perhaps?”

Animus explains to Curatas his feelings about the Fear Chaser and the imminent awakening. “Yes, I have watched this Fear Chaser with much interest” Replies Curatas. She has come at a time when Mankind need a Fear Chaser more than ever. She is a special one; I sense she is more powerful than those that have gone before. I know she will fight for Humus also.” Animus nods. Curatas continues. “I Fear that Hysterix Max has a different plan to destroy this Fear Chaser. He has not been able to destroy her before the Awakening and he will not want her to reach her full potential she is too powerful. His best plan would be to destroy her just after the awakening when she is weakest, before she even realises who or what she is and to do this he must lure her into the Fear plains and into physical battle as his mental warfare has not borne the results he expected. She still stands strong Animus. This I believe is his plan.” Animus thinks and then replies. “You are indeed wise Curatas. This has never been attempted before. The rules of engagement which you enforce forbid direct contact with the Fear Chaser by us or Hysterix Max and his demons on Humus unless summoned by the human. They have always used man to destroy man. If they lure the Fear Chaser into a battle on the Fear Plains straight after the awakening she will have little chance. She will not have had any training or guidance. She will not know how to use her powers; she will not even know what is happening. She will not survive! What can be done Curatas?”

A concerned Animus looks to Curatas for the answer. “The rules of engagement forbid direct contact with the Fear Chaser on Humus Animus, but you can have indirect contact with her as do her own Fear Demons through her dreams and thoughts. You must fight fire with fire Animus. You must reach the Fear Chaser through her dreams tonight teach and prepare her as best you can and awaken the spirit energies of ZhiGeALu, Kheju Roaza, Konieschquanoheel and warrior-queen Njinga to aid you. This will be her only chance and this is your only way. The great one must have known this and that is why he made four into one. The powers within her are instinctive. They incorporate all the elements of man and nature they will allow her more of a chance than any other Fear Chaser would have had should she have to fight on her Awakening. She has the strengths of mankind‟s varied cultures and distinct gifts from around the world combined in her.
You must awaken these in her before tomorrow through her dreams Animus. You must work with the living attributes combined in her, use them to help you teach her what she needs to know through the world of dreams. You must go now, because you do not have much time old friend. Deep sleep only last for a short while and it is only in deep sleep that you may enter her dream state.” Animus thanks Curatas. “Thank you old friend, I trust it will not be another thousand years before we speak again?” Curatas smiles at Animus and replies. “I somehow sense with this Fear Chaser we shall be seeing quite a bit of each other my friend. Now go, you have little time to lose!” Animus disappears into the light and he marvels at the all-knowing power of the Great One as he leaves Centaurus and heads for Humus.

Restless Nights
Desc: Ayi returns home to her small shared apartment ready to sleep, but will she be able to? She is soaked and has a lot on her mind. She is unaware that she has a very restless night ahead as Animus has plans for her dreams.

Ayi runs into the apartment soaking. “OMG Look at you!” Shouts Carroll. “You are soaked from head to toe. Why don‟t you take the bus like everyone else?” Carroll shouts “I don‟t know, it‟s quicker to walk, plus I save money and I like walking!” Replies Ayi in defence of herself as she shakes herself off. “What, in those heels!? Ayi you must be the only person I know who would enjoy walking in those heels!” Ayi looks down at her shoes and smiles. Being only a few inches over five feet, Ayi started wearing high heels from the age of 13 years old. The higher the better was her thinking and she was rarely caught without her heels. “Well a girl has to have something, for me it‟s shoes ok?” Carroll looks at Ayi and laughs. “You are a crazy country chick.” She says. She gets up from the sofa and walks over to Ayi helping her to peel of her wet clothing. “Wait there I‟m going to get a towel, put the food down we can eat that in a minute.” Carroll walks into the small compact bathroom to fetch a towel leaving Ayi standing in her bra and knickers in the living room shivering.

While Carroll searched in the bathroom for a towel Ayi looked down at herself and thought; I‟m getting a bit fat. She started feeling around her tummy pulling at it to see how much fat she could grab. She then put her hand on her butt. “Well at least that part of me is improving she thought, smiling to herself. Carroll entered the room. “Stop feeling your bum up Ayi” she said. “Leave your black butt alone, ha ha!” Carroll always made fun of Ayi‟s bum. Ayi looked up slightly embarrassed. “I was thinking how I have put on a bit of weight. Do you think I‟m fat?” Carroll laughed out loud. “If you are fat I am black” she replied. Ayi burst out in her trademark raucous laugh. When Ayi truly laughed there was no mistaking it. “Come let‟s get you dry and eat some food.” Carroll helped Ayi dry off and then wrapped her up in the big towel. They both then sat down to eat.

Dream Talking
Desc: Animus must remember quickly how to enter Ayi's dream and teach her as much as he can before the Awakening. Although he can enter dreams Animus has never had to do it before and getting it wrong can destroy a person‟s mind entirely. He needs to get it right and awaken the spirits to help him fast track the teaching of this Fear Chaser.

Notes: Dream Talking or entering dreams is a privilege and skill reserved for very few angels and is used by the Great One. Most angels are forbidden to enter the dreams of man. Those that can, have to enter at the exact moment of exhale in deepest sleep. They must exit at the exact moment of inhale as the person awakes from sleep. To get it wrong by a split second can destroy the mind of the person.

The spirit and energies of a great warrior or person never die. It is either passed on to another suitable hero or held until a suitable human being is worthy of carrying it. Ayi Jihu has been gifted with the energies and spirit of 4 great warriors, leaders, cultures that together combined make up mankind. Now they have to be fully awakened. Dream talking is rarely done by angels.

Only the most experienced and high of Angels can speak to humans in their dreams. It is a place where only the Great One usually goes and he does not allow too many of the Chorus there. Diablo and Hysterix Max use nightmares to affect the hearts and minds of men and they care little for the damage they cause. In fact for them the more damage the better. Therefore Animus must tread carefully. He has never dream spoken before. He has the power and authority to do so, but has never had reason until now. He must remember fast, get it right as the survival of Fear Chaser depends on it.

Chapter 6 The Warriors within (eve of the Awakening)

Bring forth your power
Desc: Animus summons the warriors from within Ayi in her dream state to help him prepare her for the battle she must fight soon. They have one dream in which to teach her as much as possible and embed their varied skills and talents into the Fear Chaser.
Notes: Traditional Native American religions exhibit much diversity, largely due to the relative isolation of the different tribes that were spread out across the entire breadth of the North American continent for thousands of years, allowing for the evolution of different beliefs and practices between tribes.

Native American religion is closely connected to the land in which Native Americans dwell and the supernatural. While there are many different Native American religious practices, most address the following areas of supernatural concern: an omnipresent, invisible universal force, pertaining to the "three 'life crises' of birth, puberty, and death", spirits, visions, the shaman and communal ceremony.
[1]Native American spirituality is often characterized by animism or panentheism, with a strong emphasis on the importance of personal spirituality and its inter-connectivity with one's own daily life, and a deep connection between the natural and spiritual 'worlds'.
Native American religions tend not to be institutionalized but rather experiential and personal. This has been a source of a great deal of misunderstanding. Individual asceticism through sweat lodge ceremonies and other events along with rituals that appear to resemble idol worship make understanding their faith and religion problematic at best. Native American religions tend to be carried out mainly in a family or tribal location first and are better explained as more of a process or journey than a religion.
[2] It is a relationship experienced between Creator and created. For Native Americans, religion is never separated from one's daily life unlike Western cultures where religion is experienced privately and gradually integrated into one's public life. Conversation about theology and religion, even within their society, is extremely limited but to live and breathe is to worship. For Native Americans, a relationship with God is experienced as a relationship with all of creation which interestingly, is ever present and does not require an institution or building. All of creation has life. Rocks, trees, mountains, and everything that is visible lives and is part of creation and therefore has life which must be respected. Achiel Peelman suggests that, “strictly speaking, Amerindians do not believe in God but know God as an intrinsic dimension of all their relations.
”[3] God is known indirectly through an awareness of the relationships or links between various aspects of both the physical and supernatural realms. Spirituality of the Native Americans makes no distinction between these realms; the living and dead, visible and invisible, past and present, and heaven and earth.

Most adherents to traditional American Indian ways do not see their spiritual beliefs and practices as a "religion"; rather, they see their whole culture and social structure as infused with 'spirituality' - an integral part of their lives and culture.

As Ayi sleeps Animus stands over her. To enter her dreams he must be precise. At the deepest moment of her sleep at the very peak of exhale, just before she inhales he must enter. It is a split second or less and must be timed to perfection or great damage will be done, even for Angels it can be tricky that is why it is forbidden by the great one.

Only certain Angels can do this. Animus knows how to do this, but he has never done it before and for the first time in thousands of years he feels something he has never felt before. Animus is nervous. At the very peak of her exhale with perfect timing Animus enters the dream state of Ayi. He has no time to waste. “ZhiGeALu, Kheju Roaza, Konieschquanoheel and warrior-queen Njinga, I summon you into this dream!” Out of the darkness one, by one they appear. They form from particles of glistening light into their human looking shapes. They stand surrounding Animus. Warrior-queen Njinga is the first to speak; “Yes Lord Animus we have been waiting for someone to summon us. We have been walking with this special one and we have been guiding her as best we can from within her subconscious ever since the day we first joined with her. Longing to come forth into the conscious and fully bind with her.” Animus smiles. “You have done well, she does not know yet how many times you have guided her, saved and influenced her. She is not aware that she holds the very essence of all humanity within her. Over time she wil l come to realise the gifts that are within and how the blend of your abilities and skills will enhance hers, but right now we have little time to spare as if we do not teach her well she will not have that time to learn.” Animus then informs them of her impending battle and tells them they must all work together to teach the Fear Chaser as much as they can in this dream so that she may survive the impending battle.

In her dream Ayi is taught the ways of the warrior to be tenacious, fierce to take calcul ated risks, take charge and have courage to be the Bison but also the Jackal hunter by warrior-queen Njinga. She is taught strategy, tactical thinking and application, healing and trickery as well as how to use nature, blend with it and bend with it and to think quickly like the squirrel but forceful and powerful like the White Buffalo by Konieschquanoheel the Native American warrior and leader. She is taught how to conserve energy, rationalise facts, contemplate and meditate to be like the Bear by Kheju Roaza. She is schooled in the ancient arts and the ways of attack like the praying mantis and the monkey, shown how to slow time and space and see from a distance like an Eagle, and taught how to summon the energies of culture into a physical power and use it against her enemies by ZhiGeALu. Just before the dawn, before she wakes she is finally taught how to lead through example rather than just words. She is taught how to appear to be in two places at once like the wind.

She must combine her skills when needed to increase her strength speed and agility to be the wolf by Animus. It has been a long night. A dream can last a thousand years and Animus together with the others have done all they can to teach Ayi a thousand years of learning in a few hours. They know she will only retain a part of what they have given her. They hope she has absorbed enough so that her instinct will kick in where here mind forgets. What they all know is that until the battle, until the moment no one can be sure.

As Dawn is about to break and before Ayi can take her final inhale from her dream state Animus gathers the four elements of Ayi‟s „Totem‟. “You have all done well, return to the oculus mentis as it will be a while before she can summon you to stand beside her in the conscious and longer still before she can bring you forth. You must all work from within the subconscious to trigger what we have taught her tonight and hope that it is enough to see her through the battle, for surely Hysterix Max will send his most powe rful against her today.” ZhiGeALu, Kheju Roaza, Konieschquanoheel and warrior-queen Njinga, all nod and meet in a circle. Putting their hands together above their heads these four seemingly disparate spirits are indeed one and they dissolve into rays of light and combine as one disappearing into the subconscious mind of Ayi. At the perfect moment of inhale Animus then leaves Ayi as she ends her dream state and wakes up, feeling like she had hardly slept at all. She feels somehow different. What a night she thought to herself, one crazy dream after another and they were so real. Ayi was used to strange dreams. She always dreamt a lot, but this one seemed different somehow, even more vivid and real, plus she woke up sweating as if she had done a full work out. Ayi lay‟s in her bed for a while contemplating her dream, half asleep and half awake.

Medicine Wheel
Desc: Ayi's medicine wheel birthmark on her back begins to glow and for the first time she stops to think about what it could mean. She has spent her whole life hiding it. She does not truly understand what it is and now all of a sudden she finds herself thinking deeply about what it could be.

Notes: Medicine wheels, or sacred hoops, were constructed by laying stones in a particular pattern on the ground. Most medicine wheels follow the basic pattern of having a center of stone(s), and surrounding that is an outer ring of stones with "spokes", or lines of rocks radiating from the center. Some ancient types of sacred architecture were built by laying stones on the surface of the ground in particular patterns common to aboriginal peoples. Originally, and still today, medicine wheels are stone structures constructed by certain indigenous peoples of North America for various astronomical, ritual, healing, and teaching purposes. Medicine wheels are still "opened" or inaugurated in Native American spirituality where they are more often referred to as "sacred hoops", which is the favored English rendering by some. There are various native words to describe the ancient forms and types of rock alignments. One teaching involves the description of the four directions. More recently, syncretic, hybridized uses of medicine wheels, magic circles, and mandala sacred technology are employed in New Age, Wiccan, Pagan and other spiritual discourse throughout the World. The rite of the sacred hoop and medicine wheel differed and differs amongst indigenous traditions, as it now does between non-indigenous peoples, and between traditional and modernist variations. The essential nature of the rite common to these divergent traditions deserves further anthropological exploration as does an exegesis of their valence.

On her back the birthmark tattoo starts to itch in a way it has never quite done before. As she scratches it she remembers her mother‟s words that she must not show her birthmark to anyone. If anyone should see it she must say she had it done when she was younger, she must never forget to say it was a tattoo, not a birthmark. “Tell no one you were born with this” Her mum would always remind her at bath times when she was a kid. “They will not understand little one.” She also remembered how as a young girl even on hot days her mother always forced her to cover up. Wu ZhiXia would also convince the teachers at her school to let Ayi wear different clothing to others during exercise and gym time. This was not an easy task in China, and Wu ZhiXia‟s husband being part of the local Government obviously helped her get her way. “She has delicate skin” Her mother used to tell everyone. “She must remain covered up at all times.” Ayi herself never understood any of it, but she just did as she was told. Her father GuGe Jihu died not knowing about the birthmark. Her mum kept it a secret from him also. For a moment Ayi felt sadness come over her. She was only 9 years old when her father died of liver disease. She did not even know what that meant at the time and she remembers one of the kids at school spreading a rumour that her dad died because he was always drinking too much.

She remembered how angry she became when she heard that and how she reacted by knocking the boy to the floor with one blow to the surprise of all around her. The boy was twice her size. She also recalled the trouble she got into for that not just at school, but with her mother at home. Funny enough she remembered her birthmark itching then also. Ayi missed her father. Although he was very strict and a bit strange now and then, he taught her many things that she could see the use of today, He taught her restraint, and made her tough. He taught her how to defend herself and he taught her about nature and animals. She knew that if he had been alive she probably would not be in the West. There is no way he would have allowed her to go. However with him gone Asha was now the strongest in the family. When Gugue was alive only he could control Asha, only he would stand up to her auntie. Now no one could, or would.

Because of her prowess at sports no one ever questioned what she wore most of the time, as long as she kept winning, and after knocking that boy out few kids in her school would dare to make fun of Ayi. Hiding her birthmark became so ingrained in her that she went through her whole life doing it. Not even her boyfriend‟s saw it. She would find ever more complex ways to hide it or make sure no one touched it. Once one of her friends accidently touched it and jumped back saying "What‟s that!" Ayi remembers inventing some silly story to explain it. She never even stopped to think until just now how bizarre it all was and how weird she must have come across to people.

Ayi got out of bed and walked to the mirror. Looking closely over her shoulder at the birthmark on her back she could see it was glowing slightly. It must be infected or irritated she thought. How the hell could I have been born with a circle of yellow, red, black and white sections? She thought. “Hey, Ayi!?” Carroll was calling from the other room. It interrupted her thought process. “You awake yet?” She looked at the clock; it was 7.30am time to get to work. She never understood why Carroll always shouted at her from next door. The apartment was so small you could hear someone breathing in the next room. Ayi knew Mr Lee would bitch all morning if they were late and he always seemed to have it in more for her, than anyone else. She did not need it today.

Hidden strength
Desc: Ayi's hidden strength comes through when she gets angry but she still struggles to make the connections that will explain who and what she is. She has not been awakened yet. She knows deep down something is just not right.

“I‟m first in the shower!” Ayi shouted from her room, doing the same thing she hated Carroll doing; shouting for no reason. Carroll always took way too long in the shower and often left Ayi with little time to get ready, so getting in the shower first was a must for Ayi. “Too late!” replied Carroll. “I‟m already in it ha ha ha ha!” Ayi threw her hands up in the air. “Dam!” she said and stamped her foot down on her bedroom floor.

'CRACK!' Her foot hit the carpeted floor with such force that it cracked the wooden surface beneath. “OMG!” Exclaimed Ayi, “How the hell did I do that!? This place must be full of termites it‟s rotten to the core, what a dump!” She rationalized. "What was that?" shouted Carroll from the shower. "Oh, nothing." replied Ayi. Angry and frustrated she walked over to her wardrobe and starts throwing her clothes on the bed cursing her luck concerning Carroll getting to the shower first. What Ayi could not know was that it had nothing to do with termites or the state of the apartment as bad as it was. Deep down she knew this, but she did not want to think about it. The spirit and strength of the White Buffalo flows through the veins of Ayi and when she is angry it comes out and can be destructive if not controlled. If Ayi had taken a moment to really think she might have been able to assemble the puzzle that was her life and notice that she was very different to those around her, but even if she did, what would she do with that information? If Ayi survived the night many of her questions would be answered.

Little OX
Desc: Ayi begins to recall her childhood and realises she was always different, but she still cannot put the pieces of the puzzle together in her head. As a young kid her powers began to show and others around noticed, but they also could never have imagined who or what Ayi truly is.

Ayi remembered that back in her home town she was already a local star of sorts when she was younger. Whatever she put her mind to she excelled at it, she became the best. She was faster and stronger than all the boys in her class and year, but smaller. She would lose races deliberately to avoid the attention winning brought her. Ayi always had this love hate relationship with attention or being noticed. When she was singing and performing she loved it, otherwise she hated it. She could never make sense of it. She rarely got the attention she wanted in the way she wanted it.

Even as a just a little girl everyone would marvel and comment at how strong she was. Ayi can‟t even remember ever being physically hurt. She could carry more water back from the river than any child her age or older often making several trips down the mountain without stopping to take a breath. While grown-ups sat puffing away on the mountain side she would be singing and dancing her way up and down the moutain. She loved the attention she got from working hard and always wanted to impress and do more, while at the same time she hated when her parents made too much fuss to others about her abilities. She also hated it when she got things wrong. Ayi was not good with mistakes. She felt embarrassed and always tried to play herself down. Her mother Wu ZhiXia called her the 'special one'. Her father called her his 'little Ox'. He would take her with him riding on his shoulders into the woods to hunt and also collect snakes, something he liked to do. He was surprised that even as a baby she was never afraid of nature or the animals. Once he did not have hold of an Orthriophis rat sn ake properly and it lunged to bite Ayi on her hand. He was shocked to see Ayi catch the snake in mid-air and hold it by the head, passing it back to him smiling. Yes GuGe Jihu knew his daughter was special. He just did not realise like anyone else, just how special she was. He thought she could be a great athlete and represent her country and bring honour to the family one day. Only Ayi's mother had some idea that her daughter was somehow blessed by the gods, special in some way.

She had no idea to what extent and she was mostly afraid for Ayi that if others suspected she was different or somehow special they would make life hard for Ayi even persecute her. So she never spoke of it to anyone, not even Ayi. Ayi was small curvaceous and powerful and extremely beautiful like her mother. From a very early age she realised that she was attractive to men. She did not like it most of the time. It seemed to only bring her mother trouble. Many nights she would hear her mother and father fighting and arguing because of the attention she got from other men. Ayi‟s mother is also extremely beautiful and at the time she was desired by many men in the village. Ayi remembered thinking at the time; "How can she help being beautiful? It's not her fault. Why does being beautiful get someone into so much trouble?” She would ask her mother. She spent many moments in her youth avoiding the attentions of older men, which was not always easy. She often wondered why they would always pick on her rather than the other girls. She was used to boys following her all the way home from school, offering to hold her books or keep her safe, any excuse just to be around her, again she found she liked it but hated it at the same time. The boys though she could handle. It was the men Ayi found hard to figure out, they had wives and still they came to her. To avoid trouble she would dress like a boy wear baggy clothes and try not to be noticed, but it did not always work. It was not until she got to the West that she was able to really express herself in the way she dressed, feel free to express her sexuality and be a woman without so much fear. Although she still found herself being chased by men all the time at least she felt more powerful and in control, able to stand up and be herself, be sexy and not hide it away so much. She learned quickly that most men did not want to know her they just wanted to have her and she could tell the difference. Ayi was used to the attentions of men indeed and coming to the West did not make things any easier in that regard. There were many instances where had she examined what really happened it would have raised many questions about who and what she truly is now, but Ayi never stopped to think about these things too much it made her head hurt. It threw up too many questions which she could not answer.

Super Power?
Desc: Ayi recalls saving the life of a friend on a dangerous mountain road, but can't figure out just how she was able to do it. Her memories are vivid but provide no answers because certain bits of the puzzle are missing.

Notes: In China, the number of deaths caused by car accidents has nearly doubled in the past 20 years, climbing from 3.9 to 7.6 per 100,000 of the population between 1985 and 2005. The Sichuan-Tibet Highway, a high-elevation road between Chengdu and Tibet where landslides and rock avalanches are common, is undoubtedly part of the problem.
The 2,412km long Sichuan-Tibet Highway starts from Chengdu of Sichuan on the east and ends at Lhasa of Tibet on the west. The road stretches into Lhasa passing Ya‟an, Garze and Chamdo. Sichuan-Tibet highway traverses 14 high mountains which average 4,000-5000m, spans dozens of famous rivers (Dadu River, Jinsha River, Lantsang River, Nujiang), crosses primeval forest and numerous dangerous sections. It has spectacular views along the line, with unique ethnic customs.

Leibo is a mountainous region of Sichuan with badly maintained dirt roads and steep falls. On one clear starry night as a young girl Ayi was travelling on the back of Azhi‟s bike. She knew better because he was much older and he had been drinking with his friends. He should not have been riding his bike that night. In fact she told him so, but he would not listen. He was the boy in the village every girl fancied, but he seemed to only have eyes for Ayi at that time even though she was six years younger than him. She begged him not to ride home that evening, she told him to walk that she would walk with him and t hey could talk as usual, but he would not leave his precious Wuxi Yunlu 250cc Cruiser motorcycle behind for someone to steal. He listened to Ayi's protestations for a while but still started up 'his baby' and began to ride away. “See you tomorrow Ayi!” He shouted as he opened up the throttle and peeled off.

Ayi instinctively chased behind him and jumped on the back of his bike, leaping over the chopper style rear seat. Azhi was too drunk to notice what she had just done and Ayi was too concerned to think about it either but the bike was doing 20mph when she caught up with it and jumped on! How did she manage it? Catching up was one thing, but getting on was almost impossible she thought as she reminisced. Feeling Ayi behind him (as she wrapped her hands around his waist) he smiled and just continued to ride on. Ayi just wanted to make sure Azhi got home safe. Too many of her friends had died from crashing and going off the mountain especially when they had been drinking. Ayi lost her train of thought as she considered the fact that most Westerners could not even walk on those roads let alone drive on them.

She remembered many times when on long trips to the nearest city having to get out of the car and walk as it was just too dangerous to be in the car as the driver negotiated the treacherous conditions. Back then the roads where very bad. Speaking to her friends now it seems things have improved much „thank god‟ she thought. Ayi remembers she kept shouting in his ear “Azhi Slow down!” or “Azhi corner, corner!” Ayi never told Azhi but she fancied him too. She did not want to look stupid, what if he laughed at her!? She could not bear the thought of him getting hurt. She never for one moment thought about herself. “OK calm down Ayi!” Azhi replied. “Relax and enjoy the ride. I got this!”

If Ayi had taken the time to reflect on that day and others like it, she would have questioned how, when he lost control of the bike she was able to pull him and herself off before it flew over the side of the mountain smashing into a dozen parts and then exploding at the bottom. She was little more than half his size. How did she foresee several seconds before what was about to happen and save them both? Ayi could not have felt the four great warrior spirits working within her. In the heat of the moment she would not have been able to feel her birthmark start to itch and glow on her back as the strength, speed and foresight of the hero‟s within guided her movement, sharpened her awareness and provided her with the ability to leap from the cascading bike with Azhi in her arms before it left the mountain, landing like a cat on her feet with Azhi cradled in her arms. She was just too concerned at the time with Azhi as he lay unconscious on the ground. “Azhi, Azhi are you alright? Say something please?” Azhi groaned and slowly opened his eyes to see a frightened and sobbing Ayi starring down at him. “What just happened Ayi, how did I get here and where is my bike?” Ayi broke into a smile. She was so relieved and happy to see he was ok. “Oh Azhi, I thought you were dead. I told you not to ride didn‟t I?” Ayi did her best to explain what had just happened, but in truth she did not really know herself. How did they get where they were? How did she get him off the bike? Why weren't they both at the bottom of the mountain … dead? “I don‟t know what happened she said, you must have hit something like a rock and we both got thrown from the bike. We were lucky, but your bike is gone Azhi, I‟m sorry.” Azhi looked up at Ayi. He could see she was still frightened and shocked. "Ahh don't worry about the bike Ayi, My parents will get me another one." Azhi forced out a smile.

He could see Ayi was still upset and tried to think of something to take her mind of what just happened. "Hey Ayi!" said Azhi. "Look where we are? I think our special cave is just down there, you remember it?" Ayi and Azhi used to hang out in caves on the side of the mountain. Some Yi people use the caves as make shift homes so it was tough to find one that no one knew about. They had stumbled across a small little cave behind some bushes several months ago and would go there to talk and drink. It was their secret place. Ayi was too young to drink, but Azhi never made her feel like a little girl and he would always allow her to have some, even if it was just a little bit. Ayi smiled and Azhi smiled back. A few months after that incident Ayi was on her way to the West and Azhi never saw her again, but he never stopped thinking about Ayi and he never stopped wondering just how she managed to save both their lives that day.

Ayi snapped out of her day dream. Now she was really late and like it or not she would hear the mouth of Mr Lee all day. She rushed to get dressed, throwing on her light blue faded jeans, her white camisole top and her leopard print high heels. No more time for daydreams, birthmarks of old friends. She had to get to work. Ayi put on her tight leather jacket and rushed out the house. “Bye” she called out to Carroll who was still in the shower.
Chapter 7: The Awakening: AD NOV 13th 2012 (full solar eclipse)
When day becomes night

Desc: Ayi works in the restaurant unaware that she is about to face the battle of her life on the night of her awakening. She cannot get the dreams out of her head and she is mentally and emotionally exhausted, but she has no time to stop as the restaurant is full and she has to work.

“Is that it?” Ayi says as she crouches on the floor in front of a pile of dishes in the kitchen. “Please tell me that was the last customer?” “Yep” Says Carroll. “That was the last one!” Carroll throws her kitchen towel into the air and starts to dance around the Kitchen. “Mr Lee says we will get extra money too plus the overtime, Whoop, Whoop!” Carroll continues to dance around the kitchen, kicking the kitchen towel along the floor as she goes. Ayi on the other hand cannot move. She is mentally exhausted. Doing the dishes was not the problem; it was her non-stop dreaming from last night. All through work she could not stop thinking about it and now she was just tired of thinking. “I don‟t think I have ever worked so hard in my life. I did not sleep much last night, I was up all night having weird dreams. I‟m so tired.” She says, not wishing to go into what was really bothering her. “Innit!” says Carroll. “I don‟t get what all the fuss is about with this solar eclipse thing, but I do like the way it puts more money in my pocket ha ha!” She continues to dance around the kitchen kicking the towel this time up into the air behind her back and then, as she turns around, she is confronted by the figure of Mr Lee standing there looking Poe faced. “Oh Mr Lee” She says, with a guilty look on her face. “I was just going to pick this up” Carroll bends over and picks up the kitchen towel, stuffing it into her apron. “Do you know how much those things cost!” screams Mr Lee. “I‟m going to take it out of your wages. These things cost money, they are not toys! Finish up here in the kitchen, common, Chop chop! I am going to deposit the takings at the bank, when I get back I expect all of this to be done. If you finish before I return lock up, you know what to do, OK?!”

“Yes Mr Lee” replied Carroll. Mr Lee begins to walk out of the kitchen but then stops, pauses, and turns around. “Where is that country village slacker Ayi!?” He screams. “Oh she is over there Mr Lee.” Carroll points to Ayi crouched down on the floor in front of the kitchen sink. “Ayi, What are you doing down there? I pay you good money, not to sit down on the job. You might get away with that in the country but in the City you have to work. Get up, common Chop chop!” “Yes Mr Lee” Ayi whispers as she picks herself up from the kitchen floor. Mr Lee was always having a go at Ayi for coming from a small Village. He seems to have it in for her or so she thought. She does not even know why he hired her in the first place. Many times while she was working she could sense Mr Lee‟s beady eyes watching her. It was a look she was all too familiar with from men. It was a lustful look which made her feel like property. Mr Lee huffs and shuffles out of the kitchen door. “Dam country folk, Chop chop, time is money” He says as the door swings shut behind him. “Never mind him Ayi” Says Carroll as she peeks through the kitchen door making sure Mr Lee has gone or is at least out of ear shot. “We made good money today, tips, and a bonus, that skinflint has to pay us. Anyway he is gone and you know what he is like when he makes lots of money, he always stops at the bar for a drink or goes to gamble it away or both, so we can have some fun until he gets back!” Carroll stops as if she just had a great idea. “Hey Ayi do one of your songs for me!” Ayi turns to Carroll. “What are you crazy!? You heard Mr Lee, let‟s get this done and go home I have a lot on my mind. If he comes back and we are messing around he will take our bonus plus his brother who rents us the house will find a way to charge us more.” Carroll looks at Ayi with a cheeky smile on her face. “Oh Ayi please just one song, do one of your RnB songs, you know like the ones you do when you think no one is looking, like that Belly Dancer one? You are so gooooood! You are like a Chinese Beyoncé ha ha. “She says power walking up the kitchen aisle trying to mimic Beyoncé. “Anyway, no one is here but us, come on we did good today, let‟s have a little fun, Please, Ayi, please?”

Chance is a fine thing
Desc: Grey Eagle stumbles upon Ayi singing in the restaurant and that chance encounter adds another element that will forever change her life. He knows that he has seen something special and different. Ayi is afraid of looking like a fool but deep down she is happy that she has caught the eye of Grey Eagle. Maybe just maybe she is good.

Grey Eagle was starving. He had not eaten all day. There was a lot going on in the studio he had no time to step out or even order some food. Grey Eagle was a mystery to many. He had a career as an artist many years before and achieved some success, but then disappeared for many years only to reappear in the City and set up his small recording studio and community centre. He was a tall dark man who always dressed in leather. He was also noted for wearing a hat and glasses most of the time. Most people in the hood thought of him as some sort of gangster because it was clear he had money and he had power on the street. Maybe it was because he just looked that way. Grey Eagle had taken many kids of the street giving them jobs and direction. Because of that he had a virtual army of loyal supporters on the street. Grey Eagle also did what he could to help the community and the kids from the hood. His community centre provided them with a place to go, to let of steam and learn music art or other skills, but it was also a place where he could teach them about who they were and help them stay out of trouble. It was obvious to many that Grey Eagle was not someone to mess with; even the authorities gave him a wide birth. He did not cause them any trouble so they left him alone. However when issues arose in the community, when tensions where high they would call on Grey Eagle to help them.

It was late now and Grey Eagle knew the only place likely to be open serving anything good was Mr Lee‟s. He decided to run down to Mr Lee‟s on the corner of the main strip and get some Wong Tong soup and Fried Rice. He got the same thing every time, it was his favourite. When he got there he could see through the window the restaurant looked empty, but the lights where on. Grey Eagle decided to try his luck. To hell with it he told himself. I gotta eat. He pushed the door knocking it as he did so and to his surprise, it was open. He knew Mr Lee was quick to grab the butcher‟s knife if he needed to and he did not want anyone thinking he was trying to break in. “Hello, Yo, Hello! Is anybody about, I wanna order some food to take out!”

There seemed to be no one around in the main part of the restaurant no customers, no staff walking around and he wondered what could have happened. It was not like Mr Lee to leave his door open. Grey Eagle turned around about to leave, but he heard something coming from the far end of the restaurant where the kitchen was. He was hungry so he stopped and strained his ears to hear better. It sounded like someone was singing. Curiosity got the better of him and he decided to follow the sound to the kitchen against his better judgement, all the while expecting Mr Lee to jump out with a butcher‟s knife swinging wildly. Mr Lee was racist everyone knew it except Mr Lee. If his food was not so good and if he were not the only Chinese restaurant in the hood, none of the brothers would go there. He did not treat them well. Even Grey Eagle who had been going there for 10 years did not get the best treatment from Mr Lee. However, because he was Grey Eagle Mr Lee stopped short of being rude, or stupid. Mr Lee knew better. Arriving at the kitchen door he gently pushed it open enough to see inside. On one side of the kitchen he could see a cute Chinese girl singing and dancing with another Chinese girl on the other side clapping and trying to copy her dance moves. Grey Eagle kept watching. At first just out of curiosity watching two of the back room staff messing around brought a smile to his face. However the more he watched the more he was compelled to watch and listen to the young Chinese girl singing and dancing by the kitchen sink. Not only was she beautiful, sexy and talented, but she had a gritty ethnic swagga. She was breaking it down. She was good! Who was she? He had never seen a Chinese girl move and sing like that before, at least not a real Chinese girl and not with a real RnB type of vibe. There were many Chinese people in his hood and Korean's too. They mostly kept to themselves but over the years he had a few stop by his studio wanting to do this and that. They were good, but they did not his „cup of tea‟ he used to say. He knew Mr Lee only hired girl‟s fresh from China (and got rid of them as soon as they became too westernized) so he could get them cheap. Everyone in the hood knew about Mr Lee and his immigrant work force. He could barely recall any of Mr Lee‟s staff speaking English. He would order his food by pointing at the numbers on the menu.

After many attempts at trying to ask for what he wanted in English he had given up. “Number 6 and Number 17” was all he would say now to avoid the problems. It was the same thing every time and even though he went there almost every week; no one there knew his order yet. Perhaps it was because no one seemed to last that long at Mr Lee's. The moment they got too much of a clue they were gone. Whoever this girl was she must be Chinese, real Chinese he thought. Dam this Chinese girl got hella swagga! Grey Eagle continued to watch as Ayi danced and sang around the kitchen. She was holding a big serving spoon in her hand like a microphone and singing and dancing as though she was at a massive arena on a huge stage. In her mind she was somewhere else for a while. Although she reluctantly started singing before long she was fully engrossed in her performance. She was on a massive stage looking out into a sea of people with a full band around her, backup singers dancers the whole nine yards. She sang out loud, imagining the music that was not there, singing to particular people in the audience that where not there. She was not looking at Carroll, could not see her friend alone standing there enjoying the performance, in her mind‟s eye there where thousands of people singing along to every word as she bumped and danced on stage. Grey Eagle was enthralled and captivated and found he was smiling, forgetting about his hungry belly and his studio. For a moment at least he was having a good time.

Ayi sang the final note of Belly Dancer, a song which she had written many months before (She was a great fan of belly dance and would study belly dancers on YouTube. She would watch the way they moved and copy them, it gave her the idea for the song) and took a bow in front of her imaginary audience and off course Carroll. “Whoop, whoop” said Carroll. “Go Chinese Mama Go!” She clapped and started to do her version of bump and grind moves. “Look at me I‟m you Ayi, Ha ha!” Ayi found herself instantly back in the real world. No she was not in some big arena with thousands of people cheering her. She was at Mr Lee's grimy restaurant, she was a dishwasher, she was nobody, just kidding herself living in a fantasy and she felt a bit stupid. Clap, Clap, Clap, Clap, sounded from the kitchen door. Both Ayi and Carroll froze. Neither of them had clapped. “Hey Girl what‟s your name? That was good. Where did you learn that stuff?”

Grey Eagle advanced further into the kitchen. Tall and dark he cut a mean figure and Carroll and Ayi just stood there mouths open. Finally Carroll summoned up then nerve and spoke. “You are not supposed to be in here, we are closed. What do you want!?” Carroll grabbed another big serving spoon sitting on the work surface and started brandishing it about. “Take it easy little lady” Grey Eagle replies with a smile on his face. He admired her spirit. “I was just hoping to get some take away food from Mr Lee before he closed. I heard the singing and thought I would check it out as it sounded good. Girl you are good, what‟s your name?” He asked again. Ayi stood there, her head dropped as she stared at her own feet. She could not speak. I have just made a fool of myself she was thinking, still getting over the reality that had just hit her. “Her name is Ayi and Mr Lee is not here and we are closed sir. You must leave now, please sir otherwise we will get in trouble, all the food is finished!” Ayi looked at Carroll as if to say 'Why did you tell him my name you idiot!' Carroll realised her mistake and just looked back at Ayi apologetically. Grey Eagle could sense that his presence was unsettling the two girls. “OK, OK, I‟m going. Listen I own a recording studio two blocks down. I think you got talent Aya” “Ayeeeeee” Shouts Carol. Again she looks at Ayi apologetically and again Ayi looks at her with daggers in her eyes. Dam she thought I just did it again, I‟m such an idiot. “Oh sorry I meant, Ayi” Grey Eagle replied. "Look here is my card. Why don‟t you give me a call or better still come in and see me. I think we could do something together. You got mad skilz.” Grey Eagle stands there, his hand outstretched with his business card at the tip of his fingers. Ayi still cannot and will not move. She won‟t even make eye contact with him. Deep inside though she is smiling because a man like him thinks I'm good. Ayi had started to pay attention and for a moment her own fears disappeared as she listened to the words of Grey Eagle. She knew about his studio, everyone in the hood did, some of her Chinese friends had gone there and told her about it. Everyone knew Grey Eagle. She had also seen him come into the restaurant many times. He always stood out; he was not hard to miss. He would order Wong Tong soup and Fried Rice.

Many times she had walked by his complex trying to summon up the courage to go inside, but she never did. Ayi knew who Grey Eagle was alright; she just did not want to show it. “Thank you, bye, bye now” Carroll says as she grabs the card like a hungry dog snapping at food being offered but unsure if the person offering it wants to them harm. She ushers Grey Eagle out of the Kitchen door. “Thank you very much, bye, bye. Come back soon.” She says sarcastically. Carroll locks the door of the restaurant behind Grey Eagle. How could Mr Lee forget to lock the door she thinks? We could have been murdered. Grey Eagle walks back to the studio, hungry but hopeful that the young lady would call. She is a strange one, he thinks to himself, but she got mad skilz and Chinese too! I can do something with that he thinks as he disappears into the night. “Mad skilz” he keeps saying to himself over and over as he walks into the night singing Belly dancer.
Chapter 8: The battle between Hope and Fear: AD NOV 13th 2012 (full solar eclipse)
Last moments

Desc: Animus watches as Ayi and Carroll close up and head their separate ways. He and his chorus are prepared for an attack at any time. Ayi is unaware that these are her final moments as Just Ayi Jihu.

Animus was watching events closely in the restaurant. He watched as Ayi and Carroll tided up the kitchen, finished their work, locked up the restaurant and left. He considered the fact that the introduction of Grey Eagle into the plot at this distinct moment time was perfect. He could feel that Ayi was buoyed with confidence within from what had just occurred and he knew she would need this to get through the night. He also knew that her singing and dancing where part of her destiny as Fear Chaser. His chorus stood ready. They knew they had a battle at hand and the few that where left where weak. A new and successful Fear Chaser would mean his Chorus would grow stronger as the more hope mankind has the more Angels of Hope there would be to fight for that hope. As things stood with Fear consuming the world their ranks where being depleted and the few on Humus who had real hope were all that stood between mankind and utter destruction.“Why take the bus tonight Ayi?” Carroll said as she pulled the shutter down over the door of the restaurant.“You said you were tired and it‟s really late?” Ayi turned to Carroll and smiled. “I‟m good.” She said. “I feel like walking anyway. I will meet you at home.” Carroll looked at Ayi with surprise. “I don‟t get you Ayi. Why do you always walk home the back way? Don‟t you know it‟s dangerous? Just the other day I was watching the news and they said someone was murdered on the very road you walk down to go home. We can just take the bus it‟s safer and much quicker.” Ayi thought about if for second, but she wanted time away from Carroll so she could think about what happened tonight. Carroll was cool, but she never stopped talking and sometimes Ayi just needed to think. Walking home was always good thinking time for her and she never had any trouble. “I‟m ok you take the bus, I feel like walking, I‟ll see you at home Carroll.” With that she turned and started walking. “See you later!” she said as she turned back and waved at Carroll who was standing there thinking; Ayi is nuts sometimes.

Struck by a Comet
Desc: Animus continues to watch as the Awakening becomes imminent. He cannot figure out how Falimento will lure Ayi into the Fear Plains, but he has his angels covering all the gateways just in case. Meanwhile on her way home Ayi notices a Comet in the sky hurtling towards her.

Animus continued to watch Ayi. There were thousands of gateways between the Plains of Hope and Fear and Humus. Each of them would bring you to a specific place either on Humus or on the Fear Plains. He had every gateway between the restaurant and Ayi‟s home covered. When Falimento made his move he would be ready. It was almost midnight and he knew on the stroke of midnight the awakening would begin. Ayi meanwhile was walking home the way she always did. She kept thinking about what Grey Eagle had said; that she was good, that she had swagga. Could that really be true she asked herself. As she turned down the slim Alleyway that ran parallel to the main street she felt a cold shiver all the way down her spine. It seemed as though all of a sudden the world had gone quiet and you could hear a pin drop.

Ayi stopped and stood still she felt strange as if something was about to happen. For some reason she felt compelled to look up towards the heavens and as she did she could see a star brighter than an ything she had seen before. She could not take her gaze off it. It seemed to be getting bigger. Huh she thought? How is that possible? She continued to look at the star and indeed it was becoming bigger and brighter. After a few seconds it dawned on Ayi this was no star but some sort of object moving, falling from the sky and it seemed to be moving right at her. Every bone in her body seemed to freeze. She wanted to run get out of the way but she could not move. She could only stare in horror as thi s blazing white comet surrounded by a red hot glow came hurtling towards her.

Animus watched as the comet Speratus (hope) flew towards its destination. This was the sign. The Awakening was about to happen. Ayi could only stand and watch. I‟m going to die‟ she told herself. As the white comet Speratus descended upon her the last thing Ayi could remember was a glow of white light so intense, but so warm. A split second before the comet hit her Ayi felt at peace, she felt fantastic she had no fear, no worries only the warmth of this comet and the love it seemed to contain and she opened her arms as if to embrace the light that was about to engulf her.

Changing times
Desc: Animus reflects on the fact that in modern times Fear Chasers have never entered the Fear Plains, because people these days have lost all faith and technology is their new master.

Animus continued to watch as events unfolded before him. How would Falimento lure the newly awakened Fear Chaser into the Fear Plains? No Fear Chaser has entered the Fear Plains on their Awakening. It usually takes months sometimes years before they come to terms with what and who they are and even then they never enter the Fear Plains. In fact many Fear Chasers have never really even known who or what they truly were. They were great heroes, leaders and prophets to mankind. It was only in early days of mankind when the Great One spoke to mankind to individuals that Fear Chasers would enter the Fear Plains and battle alongside Angels of Hope. In what we call modern times when men have lost their faith and believe only in technology Fear Chasers have employed different methods.

Fear Chaser is born
Desc: Ayi does not know whether she is alive or dead, if she is in heaven or just dreaming. She has just been struck by a Comet and now she finds herself back Leibo, China. What is going on?
“Am I dead, is this heaven?” Ayi looked around her. It took her a while to focus. As her vision cleared she began to recognize her surroundings. “This can‟t be?” She said to herself. She was back in Leibo, China. Ayi found herself on the exact mountain road where she had saved Ahzis life. “How was this possible?” Ayi got to her feet and started to look around. I must be dead she thought. “Help, help me!” A scream came from the side of the mountain. She recognised that voice, it was Azhi! Without a second thought Ayi rushed to the side of the mountain and as she got there she could see Azhi, but he was not alone. He was hanging over the side of the mountain holding onto the hand of someone she did not know. “Help me Ayi!” he screamed again. Ayi started to move towards Azhi but something was not right. Who was this strange man holding onto him and why was he smiling? As Ayi took another step towards Azhi she realised everything began to change her clothes changed, the way she felt changed, something was horribly wrong and she froze for a moment. Finally the strange man holding Azhi spoke. “I can let him go. He is your friend why don‟t you come and help me save him?” As he spoke Ayi could feel he was not right, he was grinning and she felt evil all around her. Ayi was struck with confusion and fear. Where was she, was this a dream? What was going on?

Sleep Walking
Desc: Animus can see the Fear Chaser walking to her destruction as she enters the Fear Plains oblivious to what lies in wait for her there.

Animus could hardly comprehend what he is seeing. Fear Chaser was getting up and entering one of the gates to the Fear Plains of her own free will. It seemed to Animus that she was not herself, almost sleepwalking. How could she possibly know at this point where the gates to the Fear Plains were? Animus had to move fast. Before he could move Animus heard a voice call his name. It was Curatas. “Hold Animus” She said. "Falimento has entered into the nightmare of the Fear Chaser and he is causing her to sleep walk into the Fear Plains so he can destroy her. She does not know she is still asleep. If she takes another step she will be fully in the Fear Plains and at his mercy with no idea who or what is going on. As you know Animus you cannot enter and exit the same gate at the same time to attempt that will mean instant destruction. I am charged with doing so for human and angel alike. She must continue in and exit via another gate. If she turns around and comes back now I must destroy her. However now that she is partly in the Fear Plains you can also reach her. You will have but a moment to speak to her and prepare her for what is to come. Go now Animus, Go now, before it's too late!”

Meeting Animus
Desc: Ayi and Animus meet for the first time and Ayi has to decide who to trust. Her life and the very world we live in depends on her making the right decision.

Confused and frightened Ayi does not know what to do. Half of her body was different to the rest. She wanted to take the final step but was afraid of what would happen. She wanted to go back but could not let Azhi die. How could she be here? How could this be happening? “Ayi don‟t move!” A voice to the right of her said. Ayi looked around and standing beside her was a distingui shed black middle age man with a grey beard and grey white hair, Animus knew this appearance would be the most suitable for Ayi to handle.

He was dressed in a white robe. “Who are you, what‟s going on where am I!?” Ayi blurted out her questions. Animus spoke to Ayi again. “Ayi do not move another inch. It is too late to go backwards if you do so you will die, so you must go forward and take the next step but before you do I want you to listen to what I have to say. You are in grave danger. I do not have the time to explain everything to you so you must trust me. You are not seeing what you think you see. You are in a nightmare dream. Keep your eyes on me because when you turn around you will be out of the dream and you will see things for what they truly are. You are not a normal human being Ayi you have been gifted with special powers by the Great One to do special things, but there are those who do not wish you to do these special things, there are those who wish to stop you and one of them is before you now. What you are have seen, your friend Azhi on the mountain is all lies. His name is Falimento and he is a demon wishing to destroy you. He has tried to trick you into destroying yourself. He wishes you to turn and run back in fear and confusion and if you do not do that and go forward so he and his demons can tear you to pieces and destroy you." As he spoke Animus had to admire the genius of Falimento‟s plan. He had the Fear Chaser in a seemingly Check Mate scenario. "You saved Azhi many years ago when you were a young girl. Do you remember how you pulled him of his bike and saved both of you?” Ayi nodded her head. “I know you must have wondered over the years just how you were able to do that. I know you have often wondered about your birthmark and what it means. You are a gifted Ayi and you have great power. Today your power has been awakened. You will have to fight Ayi. If you wish to make it through this night and to another gate you will have to fight and use your powers. You will have to have faith.” Ayi looked at Animus as though he was crazy but all the time feeling what he was speaking was the truth. It made sense but at the same time it was madness. “What are you talking about fight? Fight who, when? I don‟t even know how to fight.” Animus took a step towards Ayi and with a gentle smile he spoke again. “Ayi you are the Fear Chaser a chosen hero gifted with great powers to fight against the Lord of Fear and his demon horde. Everything you need to know right now is inside you. You carry the skills and the spirits of four great warriors and they have trained you in your sleep. They wor k within you and always have Fear Chaser. Do you remember those dreams you had? Fear Chaser nods her head again, slowly. Your training is not complete but we have run out of time. When you take that next step and turn around everything around you will change and you will be in the Fear Plains. You will see those before you for what they really are and it will be ugly but do not be afraid, they are angels just like me and they will try to use frightening imagery to breed even more fear into your hear. They want to destroy you. You will have to fight Fear Chaser. Trust in your instincts; let the warriors within you guide your movements and your reactions. I will fight beside you. The demons you face do not know of your preparation we will have an advantage for a short while as they will underestimate you. If you let go of what you know and trust in what you don‟t we shall make it through this night. Can you do that Fear Chaser, can you let go of your fears?” As Fear Chaser listened to Animus many things in her life began to make sense. Saving Azhi, being so strong as a kid, winning everything at school it all began to make sense. She did not understand much, but she knew she could trust the man standing beside her. His voice was familiar. It was the voice from her dreams. Perhaps this was all just a dream anyway. “I am Animus Master Angel of hope and I will fight beside you tonight Fear Chaser. If I fall you will fall. If you fall I will fall. Take my hand.” Animus reached out to Ayi and she took his hand. “Now step forward with me and be ready.” He said.

As Animus felt the strong grip of Fear Chaser he knew this was a defining moment in the history of mankind and for himself. One of his best had already fallen tonight at this gate. No doubt ambushed by Falimento and his cohorts. This meant that he and the Fear Chaser where going to be hopelessly out numbered. The chance of making it through this where slim, unless he thought.....
